How we Experience the World around us is the Basis of long-lasting Happiness.

With the right set of tools, and a fresh perspective, you can strengthen your family-bond and help transform your Child’s daily life.

From toddlers to teenagers, when young people are trying to make sense of something, are overwhelmed, withdrawn, or "acting out", play becomes a catalyst for wellness.

Dr. Mikinski utilizes age-appropriate Play Therapy to help your Child identify needs (be a “stress detective”), develop a healthier self-awareness (nurture strengths), unlearn “problem behaviors” (how unsettling experiences were coped with in the past), and practice positive problem-solving skills (Thrive).

** Play Therapy begins in confidence between a child's Parents and Dr. Mikinski, then progresses to 3 private sessions with the child. The 4th consultation is again with the Parents. These Consultations provide therapeutic guidance for supporting your child’s social, behavioral, and emotional needs as a Family. We all have a role to play!

APT Registered Play Therapist™

Dr. Mikinski offers an especially effective child-centered approach with kids aged 2 to 5. Older children and adolescents often benefit from a more directive approach such as Adlerian and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy. To further benefit your child, we may recommend other services or refer you to Specialists who may be a better fit for your child's treatment.

In addition to almost 30 years of counseling experience, Dr. Mikinski earned her Play Therapy Certification from Heartland Play Therapy Institute which included 150 hours of coursework and extensive supervised experience (350 hours)!
